Funny...NOT

I watched the 'Borat' movie within a week it was out and I didnt find it as funny as it was made out to be, with the only catchy part being the 'borat pause' before 'NOT'.

On similar note, is it only me or is there anyone else who dont enjoy Seinfeld as much after the 'Richards' slurring incident? Worse, I am not even able to stand that guy anymore. How can we let youtube ruin our lives?

Here, keep this!

A few months back, when I was at a private house party, I met so many cool people who are offbeat, quirky characters who enjoyed being just themselves.

The host was being extra careful trying to make sure that his guests arent tripping off the wood that came off the front door. While he was at it, one guy went and brought his carpentry tool set and fixed it, inspite of being drunk on half gallon of vodka.

During the conversation, his reasons for liking Austin is that, when he helps an elderly woman on a street, by picking up a bag or something, that she DOESNT offer him a dollar or two. I didnt believe that it would normally happen to anyone, until today.

Now I believe him because guess what, I dont live in Austin.

I am member of probably the most expensive gym in this metro and silently walking into it at around 7 PM. The temperature is around 33f and with chill breeze it seemed even worse. Thats when this elderly woman called me to help her close her car window. It was stuck and wont close when she was trying to use the electronic buttons. I was just pulling the window up slowly and asked her if she wanted to open the door. She readily did and I managed to almost get it closed. In the meanwhile I noticed she was reaching for her wallet and before it hit me, she was handling me 2 dollar bills. I didnt know what to make of it.

I just repeated, 'dont want that' couple of times, after which she repeated the lame words 'God bless you' like a hundred times and drove off. I want to tell her now, to shove her God and her $$s up her a$$

World AIDS day -

It is such sad point that my 100th post happens to be about AIDS/HIV, but it got to be done.

Today is world AIDS day and the focus of everybody's attention is on India, rightfully so. By conservative estimates about 10 million people are carriers of HIV and by wild estimates it can be as high as 25 million people. That is more than the population of state of Texas. Can you now fathom the enormity of this issue?

I could make a 10 page post on this but there is only one solution to this situation - public awareness.

Almost all the systems run by Indian government are a miserable failure.

1. Public health
2. Primary education
3. Public transport
4. Public distribution

Only in a few states, the PT system has some value, but all the states fail in all aspects of governance. Given such pity state of affairs it would be completely foolish to expect government to take any action, so its upon the citizens to act. Associations like CRY, AIDINDIA etc, should team up special programs to target donors pleading for money to treat this disease.

I see many Indian associations abroad do a wonderful job at motivating people and collecting money for post-disaster recovery or for schemas to remove poverty. What we need now is a program specially to remove AIDS of the streets of India. Do I see any hands raising?
