Navvindi mallechendu, naccindi Girlfriendu :)

If you dont know which movie this song is from, then you better be in teens or a non-telugu :)

Going with the flow of chronicling success, I present yet another glorious feather in the cap of telugu cinema. The movie is "Abhilasha", written by none other than Yandamuri Veerendranath, lead role played by Chiru (incidentally, the infectuous energy he displayed in this movie with special attention towards his dancing skills, earned him the "dancing star" tag and he never looked back after which), kondandarami reddy, Maestro Illayaraja (awesome disco tunes to this movie), SPB and Janaki (she would laugh in almost all the songs). Replace Vijayshanti of Challenge with Radhika (amazing chemistry between the lead pair added to the success factor of this movie). The song presented here shows the real enthusiasm to work hard by Chiru and ofcourse the backdrop is nowhere else but VISAKHA. I know I might sound like a drumbeat at this point, but please watch the video before you make a conclusion (and also feel free to revise it a bit) :)

I would have commented on your blog earlier, but I was immersed in watching the videos. :) There is another favourite song of mine "Gooli Maar" from Donga (Chiru and Radha) - and the movie too is very typical of the 80's chiru movies, I feel.. Thanks for reviving all the memories!

And, comments roll, well, I'll see in a few days. I dont get many comments on my blog and I'll have to redesign the template etc. But if you want to comment, do comment away - I will know which post you commented on. Thanks for dropping by and the compliments. :)

Thanks for the song! Amazing song! Chiru and Ilayaraja - what a combination.

Yes, Vizag is a beautiful place. By the way the movies Sitakoka Chiluka and Mantrigari Viyyankudu are also shot in Vizag, right?

Venu - thanks for dropping by. Gooli Mar is such an awesome audio hit, but can you believe I havent watched the movie "donga". People who are in India should have a better idea of how to get that movie. One more song that I am looking for is "nee meeda naaku, idammo" from Rakshasudu and "Vedam, naadam..., anni neelo chusane" from Khaidi.

TD - its an amazing song and I was surprised to hear that most of these songs were never used by Illairaja in tamil. That is a man of integrity, who I greatly admire. Yes, I know that Sitakoka chiluka was made in Vizag, but dont know about Mantrigari viyyankudu. One super movie made in Vizag (or should we say Vizag made for) is "Maro charitra". I will post a review on that movie in near future.

Those were the good times, weren't they? I don't know about you guys, but spotting the beach road in a telugu movie used to be a whole lot of fun and the occasional film shoot used to be one of the most thrilling experiences. Movies with small budgets with no pretensions except to entertain. One of the most mysterious things in the telugu movies is the disappearing of Kodanda Rami Reddy. Chiru seems to have dumped him like an old trash bag at some point of his career. Wonder what happened to him.

Thanks for the old memories; couldn't pass without leaving a comment.

chiru and radhika made a fun pair. there was this creepy dude who was like a servant or something who'd keep peeking through keyholes.

==>Ravi, the only movies that really excite me are movies of Chiru, otherwise, it was ruled by likes Muralimohan or Sobhanbabu doing family dramas ridden with multiple wives and such. Those tear jerkers were a mess and I deeply hate 'em to date. Whereas Chiru rocked with teamed up spirit, be it Khaidi, Goonda, Rakta sindhooram, what not. Its good to remember all these movies though :)

Priya: Chiru and Radhika made awesome pair (neither of them 'looked' like geek mythological figures), who created chemistry with much ease. It was later on in 'Donga mogudu', where Radhika acted as thief, but IMO couldnt pull it off as well as Bhanupriya could. Ofcourse, their movie "Nyayam kavali" is also a cool one, Chiru played the semi-negative role in it.

You might be either talking about CKP or Detective Narada, one of them was RP and other was Mohan babu, both of them made by Vamsi.

by CKP i meant chettu kindha pleaderu - chiru is the poor lawyer who is hired by rao gopal rao to find his missing son, who eventually is chiru himself.
or maybe i am confused.

what ckp were you talking about?

:) chettu kinda pleaderu - it was a Rajendra Prasad's movie. A fun movie directed by Vamsi. Probably, you are talking about "Chantabbai" directed by Jhandyala - Chiru and Suhasini as pair. That is a movie that is probably inspired from one of those Peter Seller's Pink panther movies.

Btw, do I know you Priya?

Man Simbs, pardon my perverted mind and squirrely brain but did I see Chiru squeeze some boobies about 80% into the video?

Torps man :) I am actually surprised that no one brought it up tll now.

Chiru and Radhika were known to have great 'chemistry' on screen during early 80's. She'd let him get away with such eager-ness malfunctions, hence their movies were big hits too. He shared such 'camarederie' with Vijayashanthi also (watch gangleader, you'd know).

I see the phrase "eye-for-detail" in a whole new light or squeeze; whichever is deemed appropriate :)
